Activities
Below are various activities we are planning to do. We still need many volunteers and donations to help with our projects. If you would like to help us in any activity, please complete our application form (word document) and e-mail to tcsthailand@gmail.com.
Fundraising Activities
We will be organizing various fundraising activities throughout the semester. All proceedings will be used for our summer camp activities, any leftover money will help support scholarships for children through Radapradanugroh Foundation under the patronage of His Majesty the King. Our fundraising activities for Winter 2005 have all been completed, check our site later for new activities.
Summer Camp Activities
The summer camp is scheduled between May 8-21, 2005 in Phang Nga, Thailand. Below are the list of our activities, which have been finalized by our survey group surveying the needs of the local community.
We will complete construction on a library building which was initiated by a group of Thammasart University students. The library is located in Ban Nok Na elementary school, Kho Kao Island, Kuraburi District, Phang Nga, it will also serve as a community learning center. Our work will include finishing the walls, windows, painting, furnishing, supplying the library with books and arranging a library system. The photo shows the condition of the library prior to our camp.

We will arrange English and sanitation lessons for the children and interested adults in the area. We anticipate about 100 children will participate.
We will provide psychological support to orphans and other children via:
o Group activities (fun and games \(^o^)/)
o A pen pal project
o Scholarship programs
We are no longer accepting applications for the summer camp. You may want to join other on-site community service groups through Khao Lak Tsunami Volunteer Center.
Scholarship Project
Orphan needs are generally known to be those of education, health care, shelter, food, security, and protection from unscrupulous relatives and guardians. TCS@T would like to take part in educational support. The scholarship amount will be $125 per student per year. TCS@T will act as a contact person for anyone in the United State who wants to support a child's education. TCS@T will contact schools to select children who are in urgent need for scholarship and coordinate with the supporter, schools, and the child. If there is any funding left after the conclusion of other activities, leftover money will be given to Radapradanugroh Foundation under the patronage of His Majesty the King. The foundation has organized a project for orphans' shelter, welfare, and education.
Pen pal Project
TCS@T would like to give encouragement and emotional support to the children by initiating a pen pal project. Volunteers will write cards or letters of encouragement with small gifts and send to TCS@T. During the community service, the on-site volunteers will give these letters to orphans, based on their communication capability. TCS@T will provide stamped envelopes for the children to send their letters back to the pen pal volunteers in the United States. After the correspondence has been initiated, TCS@T requests that volunteers support their own pen pal for the cost of airmail or stamps in the future. The pen pal project represents a chance for the tsunami affected children to express themselves and to ease their suffering.
Note: Pen pal and Scholarship program are planed to be long term projects after the onsite service is complete.
Activities Log
Mass Meeting
Mass meeting photo Our mass meeting was on February 23rd, we talked about our group, its projects, and recruited some volunteers (we still need more!!). Thai style milk tea was served, and we were able to recruit a couple of cool new members. Notice that we are wearing our cool, official TCS@T T-shirts, if you feel the irresistible urge to buy one for $10 send an e-mail to "tcsthailand

Weekly Meetings
Weekly meeting photo We have weekly meetings on Friday evenings, at our (self-appointed) president--Kung's apartment. Rumors say that the group started from her inviting the initial members to dinner and then forcing(?) them to cooperate in exchange for the meal.

Weekly meeting photo Before the meeting, a some-what authentic Thai dinner is served at 6:30pm as a bait for greedy members who are forced to attend the meeting which starts at 7:15pm, and usually ends around 10pm. Some members are really committed and stay around til midnight, some stay for the snacks :P.

Bucket Drive
Bucket drive photo Our bucket drive (March 10-11) was highly successful. THANK YOU for all your support. Our members stood in the snow, endured the cold weather asking for your support. Your response warmed us, some of you even stopped your cars to give us donations! We gaurantee that we will use your donations, your "wave of hope" to help victims of the Tsunami. Thank you for your warm support!

Thai Night Auction
Thai Night Auction photo We had 21 sets of Thai related products for the auction, most of them were exquisite Thai handicraft. Many guests eagerly participated in the auction. Although in the end we had some items left, we managed to sell all of them. Thanks to everyone who participated in the auction.

Thai Night Auction photo Donation and T-shirt sales were quite a success too. We would also like to thank every guest that came to Thai Night, as part of the proceedings will be used for our Tsunami project. We hope you had a great time, and hope to see you again next year!
